Ex- National Football League Player Antonio Brown Files Innocent Response in Attempted Murder Charges

Former NFL star Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to face an murder attempt accusation connected with a incident that took place in May, with his attorney entering a innocent response on his behalf.

Detention documents in Essex County, New Jersey, show that Brown was discharged on Tuesday early for his transfer to Florida. Brown, one of the most popular figures in the NFL, had waived transfer to Florida from New Jersey, where he was taken after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.

Brown’s counsel, Mark Eiglarsh, said in an email that he has already lodged a written innocent declaration to the attempted murder allegation. Brown could be in a Miami court as early as Wednesday morning for a bail session, Eiglarsh added.

As per his detention warrant, Brown is alleged of grabbing a pistol from a protection staffer after a star match bout in May and shooting two rounds at a man he had clashed with previously. The reported victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, stated to investigators that one shot grazed his nape.

Eiglarsh said that Brown was simply protecting himself from Nantambu.

“The actions he was forced to take were exclusively in self-defense against the reported victim’s aggressive actions. Brown was targeted that night and acted within his lawful right to defend himself,” Eiglarsh said.

Brown was not immediately detained because initially officers did not recognize Nantambu as a target. It wasn’t until afterward in May that Nantambu gave a full testimony about the incident to authorities and identified Brown as the perpetrator, the document states.

According to his online posts, Brown had been residing in Dubai for a number of months. In a message after the altercation, Brown said he was defending himself because he was “jumped by several persons who sought to rob my jewelry and bring bodily harm to me.”

A category two attempted murder accusation in Florida imposes a highest 15-year incarceration penalty and up to a $10,000 fine in the instance of a conviction.

Brown has faced multiple legal problems over the years. He earlier had been alleged of physical attack of a vehicle employee, several domestic violence accusations, neglect to pay parental support and additional occurrences.

During a recent match with his team against the New York Jets, Brown took off his jersey, equipment and gloves and left the field, resulting in his release by the Buccaneers and effectively ending his football journey.

Brown, who completed 12 years in the league, was an All-Pro player who spent the bulk of his time with Pittsburgh. For his professional life, Brown had nine hundred twenty-eight catches for more than 12,291 distance, the 28th highest of record. He was a multiple-time Pro Bowl pick.
